The third full pattern of Tatiana of Meraki Crochetstudio! Today I am posting her Ammonite Earrings. But you can also use the ammonite as a pendant, brooch or keychain. Did you know that ammonite lived in the same time period as dinosaur?

You should also check Meraki Crochetstudio out on Instagram (and don’t forget to follow her). By the way, last June I posted the pattern of her beautiful fish and a few weeks ago her flamingo.

Pattern Ammonite

You’ll have to crochet in BLO from the beginning to the end of your work. Start with the main colour.

  • R1: 5 sc into the magic loop (5)
  • R2: inc, 4 sc (6)
  • R3: 1 sc into each stitch of the previous round (6)
  • R4: inc, 1 sc × 3 (9)
  • R5-8: 1 sc into each stitch of the previous round (9)
  • R9: inc, 2 sc × 3 (12)
  • R10-15: 1 sc into each stitch of the previous round (12)
  • R16: inc, 3 sc × 3 (15)
  • R17-22: 1 sc into each stitch of the previous round (15)

Fasten off and stuff your work. Don’t stuff it too tight, because you’ll have to roll it up.

  • Use the yarn of colour 2 and make sl st into the front loops of all sc.
Ammonite step 2 crochet

Make a little circle

  • R1: 5 sc into the magic loop (5)
  • R2: inc × 5 (10)

Fasten off, leave a long tail

Sew this circle to the open end of your cone. Roll up the cone and sew it into the correct shape.
