Free Crochet Pattern Cozy Feet Rug

If you’re getting ready in front of your makeup mirror in the morning, warm feet make all the difference and that’s exactly why I designed this cozy rug. The pattern is very simple and uses only basic stitches. You can follow the written instructions or crochet along with the video, which includes the crochet chart.
I made this rug using Hooked Zpagetti, a yarn created from 100% recycled textile leftovers, also known as t‑shirt yarn. Since it’s made from leftover fabrics, the balls can vary in thickness and stretch. For example, my white yarn was noticeably thinner than my black. Crocheting with this yarn does require a bit of muscle, but if that’s not your thing, you can easily use any other super bulky/chunky yarn instead. Adjusting the size of your rug is very simple, and you’ll find all the details below.

Materials
- Hoooked Zpagetti in white, I used exactly one 120‑meter (131 yards) ball) and in black, I used two balls, about 240 meters (262 yards) total
- or other super bulky/chunky or t‑shirt yarn
- 12 mm crochet hook
- Large‑eyed needle for weaving in the ends

Crochet Stitches and Abbreviations
- Chain (ch)
- Single Crochet (sc)
- Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Measurements
Finished measurements of my rug
- Approximately 32.5 inches (83 cm) wide without the fringe
- Approximately 41.5 inches (105 cm) wide with the fringe
- Approximately 20.5 inches (52 cm) tall
My gauge swatch
- 4 inches (10 cm) = 6 rows
- 4 inches (10 cm) = 6 stitches
Want to adjust the size? You can easily change the width of the rug by adding more or less foundation chains. Just make sure the number of chains is a multiple of 2. You can adjust the height by crocheting more or fewer rows.

Fringes

In each color section, I added one fringe on the side (so that’s one fringe every 2 rows). Below you’ll find the step‑by‑step instructions for how I made them.
- Cut 3 strands of yarn, each about 15.75 inches (40 cm) long, for every fringe.
- Fold the strands in half.
- Insert your hook from underneath into a stitch along the side of the row (see photo 1).
- Place the folded strands on your hook, with the fold resting on the hook, and pull the yarn through far enough to create a loop (see photo 2).
- Grab the loose ends with your fingers and pull them through the loop. Tighten the fringe firmly.
- Trim the fringes to about 3.5–4 inches (9–10 cm) from the knot. I used a piece of paper as a little ruler to keep them even.
By the way, the leftover yarn you trim off when evening out the fringes makes perfect stuffing for another project, nothing goes to waste.
Tadaaa! Your rug is finished! Happy you, happy feet.
Lisa
