Free Crochet Pattern Ziggy Shopper

Yesss, a brand-new pattern of my own design for a super handy shopper! After all, you can never have too many bags. The base of the Ziggy shopper is a simple, solid granny square that creates a sturdy bottom. From there, you continue crocheting in an open ripple stitch that forms the playful middle section of the shopper.

Next comes the handle section. You can choose to crochet the handles, but (faux) leather handles are also a great option if you want to give the shopper a different look.

For this pattern, I chose a yarn blend of 50% cotton and 50% polyester. This keeps the shopper lightweight while still making it strong and durable. The finished shopper measures approximately 44 cm (17.3″) tall without the handles and 35 cm (13.8″) wide. With the handles included, the total height is about 70 cm (27.6″). These measurements are based on the yarn and hook size mentioned below.

This crochet pattern is an original design by Lisa Geerts from Free-Crochet-Patterns.com. You’re welcome to share the link, but the pattern itself may not be copied, reproduced, or published anywhere else. This pattern is for personal, non-commercial use only. I’m able to offer it for free because it has not been formally tested

Middle Section of the Ziggy Shopper

We will now crochet the middle section of the shopper. The stitch we’re using here is based on the Open Ripple Stitch. The video below is only meant as a guideline for the more challenging parts (such as the dc5tog), as the stitch count does not match this shopper. For the shopper, you will repeat ‘ch 1 and 1 dc’ more often between the decreases and increases, and we will be working in the round.
