How to crochet the Alpine Stitch

How to crochet the Alpine Stitch

If you want to learn how to crochet the beautiful Alpine stitch, you have found the right place. On this page you will find a step-by-step video tutorial (guided with chart), written instructions and a crochet chart. The alpine stitch creates a nice, dense texture at the front of your work.

Keep in mind that you will need a bit more yarn than average for this stitch, because it is a slightly thicker stitch. The Alpine stitch looks very spectacular in gradient yarn as well, so you could make a beautiful blanket with this stitch. Or, if you use cotton yarn, you can also use this stitch very well to make a wash- or dishcloth.

This tutorial shows you how to crochet 5 rows. After that, keep repeating rows 2 – 5 to enlarge the project you are working on.
