How to crochet the Moss Stitch / Linen Stitch
There are quite a lot of names for the Moss Stitch, the stitch is also known as the Linen Stitch and the granite stitch. Do not confuse the Moss stitch with the Even Moss stitch, which is a different stitch.
The Moss stitch is a very easy crochet stitch, you only need to know 2 basic stitches. Besides being a stitch that is suitable for beginners, it is also a very beautiful flat stitch. That is probably the reason there are many crochet patterns that use the Moss stitch.

Written pattern
Start with an even amount of chains.
- Row 1: Work 1 single crochet in the 4th chain from the hook. * chain 1, skip 1 stitch, 1 single crochet in next stitch * repeat between * and * until the end of the row. Turn.
- Row 2: Chain 2, 1 single crochet in chain space of the previous row, *chain 1, skip 1 stitch, 1 single crochet in next chain space* repeat between * and * until the end of the row. Turn.
Keep repeating row 2.
