How to crochet the Puff Stitch
The puff stitch creates a thick bobble, which looks great on both sides of your work. Depending on the pattern, you’ll work the puff stitch with, for example, 5, 7 or 9 loops. On this page, I will show you the puff stitch with 7 loops. You can also variate with this stitch by pulling up the loops lower or higher.

The abbreviation for the puff stitch is ps or puff. On the left, you see the symbol of the puff stitch which is used in crochet charts.

The Puff Stitch

1. Yarn over and insert your hook in the stitch.

2. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the stitch. You will have 3 loops on your hook.

3. Yarn over and insert your hook into the same stitch.

4. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the stitch. (5 loops on your hook)

5. Yarn over and insert your hook into the same stitch. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the stitch (7 loops on your hook)

6. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all 7 loops on your hook.

7. The last step, secure your puff stitch with a chain.
