How to Crochet the Raised Stripe Stitch

This stitch features bold vertical raised stripes along with more subtle horizontal lines, creating a woven‑like texture. It is worked with front and back post stitches; if you’ve never made those before, don’t worry, I show the technique step by step in the video. If you can crochet regular double crochets, this stitch is very manageable. The back of your work has a different look, showing a kind of block‑like pattern.
In this tutorial, I walk you through the first 5 rows. You can continue by repeating rows 2 – 5. It may seem like a lot to remember at first, but you’ll quickly notice the rhythm and logic in the repeat. For the Raised Stripe Stitch, start with a foundation chain that is a multiple of 8 plus 7 extra chains.
