How to crochet the Trinity Stitch

Do you think the most common star stitch is too complicated to crochet? With this stitch you’ll also get a star texture and it is a lot easier to crochet. Another advantage: this stitch is beautiful on both sides of your work.

Written instructions

sc3tog (work 3 single crochet stitches together): Insert your hook through the first stitch and pull up a loop. Insert your crochet through the 2nd stitch and pull up a loop. Insert your hook through the third stitch and pull up a loop. Now you have 4 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all 4 loops on your crochet hook.

Chain a multiple of 2 + 2

Row 1

1 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, sc3tog, pull up the first loop of this sc3tog in the previous chain stitch (where you just worked the sc). Pull up the 2nd and 3rd loop in the next 2 chains.

*chain 1, sc3tog (pull up the first loop in the previous chain stitch, pull up the 2nd and 3rd loop in a new chain). * repeat between * and * until the end of the row.

Work 1 sc into the last chain (in this chain you already pulled up a loop for the previous sc3tog). Turn.

Row 2

Chain 1, 1 sc in the 1st stitch, sc3tog, pull up the first loop of the sc3tog in the previous stitch (where you just worked the sc). Pull up the 2nd and 3rd loop in the next 2 stitches.

*chain 1, sc3tog (pull up the first loop in the previous stitch, pull up the 2nd and 3rd loop in the next 2 stitches). * Repeat between * and * to the end of the row.

Work 1 sc into the last stitch (in this stitch you already pulled up a loop for the previous sc3tog). Turn.
