How to Extended Single Crochet

The extended single crochet is very similar to a regular single crochet, but is slightly higher due to 1 extra action. The effect of that extra action is that you will see 2 v’s above each other on the front of your work.

You can chain any number of stitches for the extended single crochet. Because the stitch is a bit taller, a new row is started with 2 turning chains.

How to crochet the Extended Single Crochet Stitch

Extended Single Crochet Step 1

1. Chain 2

2. Insert your hook in the stitch. Yarn over and pull the loop through the stitch.

3. Yarn over and pull the yarn through only 1 loop. (This part differs from a regular single crochet.)

4. Yarn over and pull the yarn through both remaining loops.

5. This is what your first extended single crochet will look like. If you continue, you will see that each stitch consists of two v’s.
