Mini Coin Pouch Free Crochet Pattern

Since I rarely use cash anymore, I’ve switched to a compact wallet that fits my cards and a few bills. However, I sometimes find myself needing a few coins. That’s why I designed this mini coin pouch. It holds about three coins, making it perfect for leaving a tip at a restaurant or for the toilet attendant ;-). Below you will find the pattern.

Materials

  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • Yarn Needle
  • Sport weight cotton yarn (I used Schachenmayr Catania)
  • A small button
  • Key ring
  • Stitch Marker

Chain 10, the first part is worked in a spiral.

Row 1
1 sc in the second chain from the hook, 1 sc in the next 7 chains. 2 sc in the last chain. Continue on the other side of the chain, 1 sc in the next 8 chains, 2 sc in last chain. (20 sc)

Rows 2 to 10

Row 11
12 sc, turn (from now on we will not work in a spiral anymore).

Chain 1, 12 sc, turn

Row 13
Chain 1, decrease 1 sc, 8 sc, decrease 1 sc, turn

Row 14
Chain 1, decrease 1 sc, 6 sc, decrease 1 sc, turn

Row 15
Chain 1, decrease 1 sc, 4 sc, decrease 1 sc, turn

Row 16
Chain 1, decrease 1 sc, 2 sc, decrease 1 sc, turn

Row 17
Chain 1, decrease 1 sc, decrease 1 sc, turn

Row 18
Now create the loop that will go around the button, by working a few chains. Make sure to work enough chains to fit around your button. Slip stitch in next stitch. Fasten off

To create the loop around the keychain; chain 20. I used a needle to securely attach the chain to the pouch.
